Utah Hockey Club vs. Vegas Golden Knights Game Thread

First penalty of the night goes to Jack McBain. Two minutes for tripping.

In response, the entire VGK crowd chants, "Shame! Shame! Shame!"

Small sample size but I like what I've seen from Maatta since joining the Utah Hockey Club. Just a solid veteran who remains cool and calm under pressure.

Utah has a single shot on net. Vegas has 8 shots on net, including a few very dangerous ones.

Utah leads 1-0. Hockey is wild, isn't it?

Jack McBain has dropped the gloves with Keegan Kolesar.

Decent fight and McBain did a good job keeping Kolesar in a position that he couldn't really hit him. Both players head to the locker rooms as there's just 2 minutes left in the first period.

Hayton with a breakaway opportunity but Adin Hill denies him. Didn't really do enough with the puck to create a clear scoring opportunity.

End of the 1st period.

Utah 1
Vegas 0

Vegas outshout Utah 10-3 in the period but sometimes it's more about quality than quantity.

I was told by a Vegas reporter that a lot of the VGK production staff works in show business down here and it definitely shows.

Everything about this arena and experience is SO Vegas. Makes it a lot of fun.

Utah survives another suffocating offensive zone possession by Vegas. They've done a nice job getting in front of shots and Ingram has made some key saves.

Another goal by Utah would really help as Vegas is definitely knocking on the door.

Aside from the penalties, Jack McBain has been good tonight. Been really active on the forecheck, had an active stick, and created the turnover that led to Cooley's goal.

A deflection goes off of Dylan Guenther and Utah leads 2-0!!! It is QUIET in Vegas right now. We'll see who gets credit as Ian Cole took the shot.

7:50 remaining in the 2nd period.

Vegas finally scores and it's 2-1.

Turnover in the D zone results in a tic-tac-toe sequence and an open net goal for Vegas.

Knights with some life late in the second period.

2-1 Utah.

Knights score again and its 2-2.

Eventually, suffocating pressure and tons of shots are going to pay off.

It can happen that fast too.

Three unanswered goals by Vegas and they lead 3-2. That's just poor transition and a soft goal.

Momentum has drastically shifted.

Utah has been outshot 30-12 thus far...sure they've scored twice but that is simply not enough and that much of an advantage for the other team is always going to catch up to you.
